When was Cadillac founded? One hundred years ago, in 1902, Cadillac was founded by Henry Leland. Within six short years, Cadillac introduced the idea of interchangeable parts to the auto industry and mass production of automobiles. In 1910, Cadillac debuted the first passenger car with a fully enclosed cabin. Two years later, the company released the Model Thirty, the first car with no crank, with the intent of providing easier access to automobiles for everyone, including women.
The first Cadillac vehicles ever produced were the Runabout and Tonneau, completed in October 1902. They were two-seaters powered by a 10 hp (7 kW) single-cylinder engine. Many historians say the first Cadillac vehicle rolled out of the factory on the 17 of October. Cadillac introduced the new automobiles at the New York Auto Show in January of 1903, where they received over 2,000 orders. Cadillac’s biggest advantage was precision manufacturing and reliability. Cadillac simply offered better-made vehicle than its competitors, and in many respects it still does.
The Cadillac logo history is unique. The well-known “wreath and crest” has transformed about 30 times to reflect the significant changes in the company’s design and branding.
